MULTI METER /AVO METER
Analog/Digital

Multimeter used for measuring AC / DC Voltage, DC current, Resistance and Diode (continuity) or audio able continuity test function.

Checks of Multimeter:

1.       Voltage Check   AC & DC
2.       Current Check   DC
3.       Resistance Check
4.       Continuity Check and audio able continuity test

FRONT PANEL DESCRIPTION:

1.       Function and Range Switch:
This switch is used to select the function and desired range as well as to turn on the instrument.

2.       Display
3 ½ digit, 7 segment, 0.5” high LCD

3.       Jacks or Lead Sockets

“Com” common Jack
Plug in connector for black (Negative) test lead.
“V Ω mA” Jack
Plug in connector for red (Positive) test lead for all voltage and resistance and current (Except 10A) measurements.
“10A” Jack
Plug in connector for red (Positive) test lead for 10A measurement.
Jacks / sockets configuration:

Warning:             Before use, check meter leads are properly connect in correct socket.

METHOD OF MEASUREMENT

Voltage Measurement AC and DC

1.       Set function range switch at the required position. AC voltage or DC voltage and voltage range.
2.       Connect black test lead to “COM” terminal and red lead to the “V Ω mA” input terminal.
3.       Connect test leads to measuring point and read the display value the polarity of the red lead connection will be indicated at the same time as the voltage.
4.       Set voltage range greater than > test voltage.

Current (Ampere) Measurement AC and DC

1.       Set function range switch at the required position. AC or DC current and current range.
2.       Connect black test lead to “COM” terminal and red lead to the “V Ω mA” or “10A” input terminal.
3.       Connect test leads to measuring point and read the display value.
Excessive current will below the fuse that must be replaced when the input is from “mA” terminal.

1.
2.       The 10A range is not protected by a fuse. Maximum 10A continuous. Maximum 10A measuring time must be less than 15 seconds.
3.       Set current range greater than > test current.

Resistance (Ω / ohm) Measurement with Digital Multimeter (DMM)

1.     Set function range switch at the required position. Ω Ohm and place the range selector to a prescribed range position.
2.       Connect black test lead to “COM” terminal and red lead to the “V Ω mA” input terminal.
3.       Check when the input supply is not connected. i e at open circuit.
4.       Connect test leads across the resistance under measurement and read the display value.
5.       Set ohm range greater than > test Resistance.

Resistance (Ω / ohm) Measurement with Analog Multimeter (AVO Meter)

1.     Set function range switch at the required position. Ω Ohm and place the range selector to a prescribed range position.
2.    Connect black test lead to “COM” terminal and red lead to the “V Ω mA” input terminal. (Note: the polarity of the red lead is ‘+’)
3.       Short the test leads and turn O Ω Adj to set the pointer to zero position.
4.       Make sure that there no voltage across the circuit to be tested.
5.       Connect test leads across the resistance under measurement and read the display value.
6.    Display value multiply with (X10Ω) the range switch value and determine the accurate resistance value.

Continuity Test

1.       Set function range switch at the required position. Ω Ohm or continuity position.
2.       Connect black test lead to “COM” terminal and red lead to the “V Ω mA” input terminal. (Note: the polarity of the red lead is ‘+’)
3.       This range with “Audio able continuity Test” function. Built-in buzzer sounds if the resistance between two probes is less than 30 ± 10Ω.
4.       Check continuity when the input supply is not connected. i. e at open circuit.

Continuity checks with ohmmeter of the meter. If circuit is continue meter will show ‘000’.
